Being Rooted in God's Creation
Four women and our pilgrimage guide, Sabine Petters, walked the Via Baltica through God’s creation between Greifswald and Grimmen. Santiago de Compostela seems far away.
Through sun, wind, and rain, we set out to let go, to find our roots, to marvel, and to grow.
Then, on the last day, it was time to return to reality! We carried with us the memory of countless kilometers through the beautiful and bountiful nature of Pomerania.
Greifswald Cathedral, the church in Horst, Gristow, eating fish, and beer punch were all part of our pilgrimage’s joy. Rediscovering the forest, hugging trees, and feeling the rhythm of creation. We are grateful for the time we spent together, the conversations we shared, and for the “radiant Sunday” in our hearts.
For even though we were on the road from Monday through Friday, Friday—the pilgrims’ day dedicated to the seventh day of creation—felt like a Sunday: no obligations, just being and resting. The solemn, blessed atmosphere came about all on its own.
